ATMP Denmark works to strengthen connections between stakeholders across Denmark so that knowledge, experience, and expertise can be shared more easily—and so that the path from promising research to advanced therapy medicinal products becomes more coherent.

Denmark has strong research environments, specialized hospitals, and biotechnology companies working with advanced therapies from their own starting points. The universities contribute new knowledge and early development, while the hospitals play a central role in clinical trials and in bringing new treatments closer to patients.

Amgros
Amgros’ core mission, together with hospital pharmacies, is to ensure that the necessary medicines are available to patients at public hospitals—at the right time, in the right place, and at the right price. At the same time, environmental considerations are included in the mission.

Danish Medicines Council
The Danish Medicines Council works to ensure that patients in Denmark can quickly be offered effective medicines at reasonable costs. The Danish Medicines Council develops recommendations for new medicines, treatment guidelines, and medicine recommendations for Denmark’s five regions. The Danish Medicines Council has been established by Danish Regions.

Trial Nation works to strengthen Denmark’s position as an attractive country for clinical research and public-private collaborations.

University hospitals
University hospitals provide some of the most specialized treatments in Denmark and bring together clinical expertise, research, and development. They play a central role in translating new knowledge into patient care and in developing strong clinical environments with high professional specialization.
Danish Medicines Agency
The Danish Medicines Agency is the Danish authority for medicines and medical devices. Among other things, the Agency assesses applications for new medicines and clinical trials, so that requirements for quality, safety, and efficacy are met. The Danish Medicines Agency and the scientific ethics committees also play an important role in ensuring an effective and highly qualified assessment of applications for clinical trials.

Research environments at hospitals and universities are crucial for developing new knowledge, new treatment methods, and clinical research in Denmark. They help translate research into practice and build strong collaborations between the healthcare sector, authorities, and life science stakeholders.
Cellerator
Cellerator builds a bridge from laboratory research to clinical application through the testing of cell therapies. The ambition is to strengthen process development, scale-up, and the translation of academic and clinical innovations into therapeutic products ready for GMP manufacturing and Phase I/II trials. The facilities being established at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) are expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2027. During the construction period, Cellerator has set up temporary process development laboratories at BII and is already supporting several projects. Cellerator is a philanthropic company, funded and owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
